Exhaust gas - Exhaust gas is gas which occurs as a result of combustion of fuel such as gasoline/petrol, diesel or coal. It is discharged to atmosphere through an exhaust pipe or chimney.
Exhaust gas recirculation - Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an NOx (Nitrogen oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide) reduction technique used in most gasoline and diesel engines.
Flue gas - Flue gas is gas that exits to the atmosphere via a flue, which is a pipe or channel for conveying exhaust gases from a fireplace, furnace, boiler or generator. However, it usually refers to the gas produced at power plants.
Combined gas and steam - Combined gas and steam (COGAS) is the name given to marine compound powerplants of gas and steam turbines, the latter are fed with steam generated with the heat from the hot exhaust of the gas turbines. This way some of the otherwise lost energy can be reclaimed and the specific fuel consumption of the plant can be decreased.
